Pasta recipes - classic and unique

This section was previously from my Easy Pasta Recipes website, but I've decided to shut that down and incorporate it here.

You will find lots of simple, easy and healthy pasta recipes here - for spaghetti, marcaroni, penne, fusilli, fettuccine, angel hair ... and even for Asian "pasta" such as Japanese udon, ramen and soba, or Chinese noodles, rice noodles and vermicelli.

There are lots of websites featuring recipes for pasta. And I won't claim this to be the best, the biggest, the most comprehensive or anything like that. It is different, that's all. Just as all recipes are different, this section is also different.

But I do have one possible claim to fame: This website is probably the most unusual. There will be unusual Asian recipes for pasta that you will probably not find anywhere else, using Asian ingredients such as Chinese olive vegetable, salted eggs, bitter gourd (ampalaya), pressed tofu, seaweed, krill, shiitake mushrooms, seaweeds, natto and so on.

At the same time, you will find traditional recipes such as spaghetti bolognaise and carbonara, pesto pasta, marcaroni with cheese etc. After all, how can a website on pasta recipes not include such classic pasta dishes?

This is the wonderful thing about pasta. Just as you can eat rice with any dishes, you can eat pasta with just about anything - although some combinations obviously work better than others.

So apart from just sharing pasta recipes with you, I hope you will be encouraged to experiment and create your own recipes. This is how I treat recipes anyway - more as inspiration for my own creations rather than as rigid meaurements and instructions to follow.

Simple, healthy recipes

One emphasis of this website is simplicity. So the typical pasta dish that you find here should not take more than about half an hour to prepare. If you are well organised, you should be able to whip up a simple pasta meal in about 20 minutes. Some recipes take more time but that is usually because they require longer cooking - for the flavours of different ingredients to meld and intensity, not because there are more complicated things to do.

Another emphasis is health. I am an advocate of natural health and this is why I have expanded my original pasta recipes website into this broader-based website on the Best Natural Foods. You can find many health articles at my older website, natural-cancer-cures.com

The basic nature of pasta dishes is relatively healthy - with pasta, a grain product, forming the main part of the meal. Despite some modern health theories that carbohydrates are fattening and that we should minimise our consumption of grains, I subscribe more to the macrobiotic philosophy that grains should form the main part of the diet. After all, most human societies been eating whole grains as their staple food for thousands of years.

But pasta is not the ideal "health food" either, partly because it is usually made from refined flour. Wholemeal pasta is not widely available and often more costly. Also, it is generally healthier to eat whole grains - eg, brown rice, millet, barley, whole wheat berries, etc - rather than flour products like bread and pasta.

That said, it cannot be denied that many people find pasta delicious and enjoyable. If you are in good health (without life threatening challenges like cancer) you need not worry about enjoying pasta meals on a regular basis, perhaps a few times a week.

Where appropriate, I will offer notes about why certain pasta ingredients are healthy / unhealthy, as well as how you may adjust your pasta recipes to make them healthier.

A user friendly website

I try to make this website user-friendly by organising it in a systematic manner so as to make it easy to browse and search for pasta recipes.

The "theory" section provides basic facts, including:

he recipes are organised into major types as well as well as major ingredients. So there will be separate sections, for example, on tomato-based or olive oil pasta recipes, as well as sections on vegetarian or seafood pasta.

I hope you enjoy these pasta recipes. If you have an interesting recipe to share, do write it out in the comments section below.
